the sheep in ORANGE

I read this pretty dumb article this morning.
I do sympathize the victim and her family but the final verdict for the defendant is like totally ludicrous. What makes it even more laughable is it was part of a plea agreement attorney for the defendant which had made with the prosecutors. I meant the judge has got to be more realistic. Who I the world can live long enough to serve 110 years of jail terms unless he is some healthy Japanese or longevity human race which I doubt he is. They could have made it life imprisonment or death sentences instead of 110 years of jail. If he were to die before he finishes the jail term, are the people going to leave his body in the prison cell up until he finishes the sentence?
Ha ha.
I was talking to Mr. Chua just now. He thinks that Singapore should change the national anthem or maybe like a rearrangement. I find it totally absurd! Changing the national anthem?! And he said that there was a report on the papers saying that some Singaporeans feel that Singapore should not use Merlion as an icon. My jaw was like dropping, I am totally appalled.
Kicking off the Merlion just because it is a fictional creature? Changing our national anthem because it sounds old?
If Singapore were to keep on changing all these things, no one will treat Singapore seriously, everyone will take Singapore a joke. Take America for example, if America were to keep changing their national anthem and their national icon, the eagle, will America be what it is today? On a certain day oh I want to change to a sparrow the next day oh I want to change to dove. Oh I feel that this song is outdated let’s get Britney Spears to sing another song as our national anthem. Do you think America will be established as what it is today? Same goes for Singapore, if Singapore were to keep changing the national anthem and the national symbol, how is Singapore going to establish itself as a nation?
Yukiko Sensei once said that when all her Japanese friends come to Singapore, the first thing they want to see it’s the Merlion not any other things. So what if it is an imaginary character? The Merlion had help Singapore to build its reputation to the outside world and it took so many years to establish itself as an nation symbol. But of course I am proud of our national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim, whose distribution was confined to Singapore’s boundaries. Those bunch ignorant fools have got to insert some sense into themselves. They have got to go back to primary and secondary schools to learn their social studies and history. Why did Sang Nila Utama name the small fishing village (Temasek) as Singapura when he first step feet onto Singapore?
And to that Mr. Chua, what is so old about our national anthem? I find it everlasting and I am proud of it. Though I don’t sing it very loud back in secondary school like Miss Kok asked us to, but I really feel full of pride for our national anthem deep down inside. It’s written by our very own Encik Zubir Said, Majulah Singapura (Onwards Singapore).
Changes are good but some things are meant to be left unchanged.
I am proud to go outside of Singapore and say that I am Singaporean. Even though kaisu and kaisi is intact with it, I am still proud to be a Singaporean. I am glad that I am born in Singapore, this little red dot on the map of the world.
I bet Mr. Lee Kuan Yew must be worrying about Singapore’s future with those senseless youth Singaporeans. But I must say Mr. Lee Kuan Yew with his group of teammates is a group of amiable people. I salute Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Mr. Goh Chok Tong and all the pioneers for making what Singapore is today.
A patriotic entry. Hur hur.
