Has been receiving this email for quite some time and I totally think that it’s a hoax la.
Hey it is tara and john (addressing themselves just by the first name is too informal and they should have cap the first letter of their names.) the directors of MSN (their designations should be at the end of the email together with their names) , sorry for the interruption but msn is closing down. this (they should have cap the first letter of every starting sentence) is because too many inconsiderate people are taking up all the name (eg making up lots of different accounts for just one person), we only have 578 names left (this reason is pretty crappy, even though the number of IP addresses are running low it still has got around 10billion of addresses to cater globally and every single network device has got to has it’s own IP address and think about how many network devices does a single person owns on the average? Printer, fax machine, routers all these are consider network device). If you would like to close your account, DO NOT SEND THIS MESSAGE ON. If you would like to keep your account , then SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. This is nojoke , we will be shutting down the servers. (this is more of blackmailing rather than urging and no company will threaten their consumers lor) Send it on, thanks. WHO EVERDOES NOT SEND THIS MESSEAGE, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED AND YOU WILL COST 10.00 A MONTH TO USE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. NOW YOUKNOW WHAT TO DO. (too informal la)PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD THIS or REPLAY (there is no such option as replay, there’s only reply). COPY THE WHOLE EMAIL. GO BACK TO YOUR INBOX AND CLICK ON NEW. AND PASTE THANK YOU FOR YOURATTENTION. (why are they asking people to pass around the mail instead of mass sending everyone under MSN support or whatever they call it?) It's no joke if you don't believe me then go to the site( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1189119.stm ) and see for yourself.Anyways once you've sent this message to at least 18 contacts, your msn dude will become blue.
This whole email has only one paragraph which is like super non-professional and I am sure anyone who has got a job in Microsoft has to be proficient in English.
And another point is if you have been to the link it provides, the article is:
MSN 'to charge user fee'
Microsoft is reportedly planning to start charging surfers for the improved services of its MSN internet portal.
The site receives 200 million visits a month worldwide, and is the UK's most viewed website.
Microsoft's UK managing director told the Independent on Sunday that fees could be introduced within 12 months. (The article was posted on February 2001!)
Any move by MSN to start fee-charging would pave the way for its competitors yahoo.com and aol.com to follow suit.
Consumer mindset
But it has yet to be proved whether the public likes the internet enough to actually spend hard-earned cash on it.
"The consumer mindset is that the internet is free," Rebecca Ulph at Forrester Research told the paper, while other analysts also express doubts that consumers will decide to make the transition to become paying subscribers.
But Mr Holloway told the paper that he thinks people will be prepared to pay about £60 a year for extra services.
Microsoft stresses that the site's core facilities including Hotmail will remain free.
Fees will be demanded for extra services that are now under development, such as an advanced filter system to protect email accounts from junk mail.
Advertising blues
The need to start charging is becoming pressing because of an expected downturn in advertising revenue this year. (not because of the availability of the names)
"It is clear that the online advertising and the click-through model alone won't generate enough revenues. We will build extra services into MSN and start monetizing this within a year." said Mr Holloway.
MSN is already thought to be running at a loss at the moment, and an advertising squeeze this year would deepen losses.
Microsoft launched a $1bn programme to upgrade the portal in October, saying that it wanted MSN to become as well known as its Windows software.
Those people who create this kind of junk mail are freaking irritating! Oh there’s another one that says that Bill Gates want to share his wealth. It’s like absolutely bonkers la! Of course I am not mad at those who forward this kind of mail cause I am one of them at times. =P Hur hur. It’s rather to be safe than sorry la. =P
Anyway I jogged around my estate just now and I think I got to X out this plan. There isn’t a route for me to jog. I complete the whole estate in just around 10 minutes and my mom told me not to run to the factory area cause there are loads of foreign workers. So I shall go back to school and run on Saturdays. =X
Toodles folks! =DD
